No consent no freedom
Other than by foot, or bicycle/sailboat (if you made your own), the rest of travel would require resources, and resources unless you worked to create them are not to be shared. But even on foot, what would you eat on your way to wherever, Greenland, Tierra Del Fuego, Madagaskar, … who will work to create food to give you?
And who will do all the necessary work you don’t like? Your slaves, your employees?
In capitalism to be a composer, a poet, a sculptor, you need a sponsor, someone who will exploit others, create so much profit they can share a little with you. But someone must drain the septic tank when it is full or plugged up, someone has plow and dig in the mud and rain, some have to climb to fix a roof, why would they do those things so you can be a C++ programmer writing games?
So you built that whole house on your own, with your own made tools, and your own materials you extracted from earth without negatively affecting others from destroying the earth around them. Then you made all the systems that make it a house, like water, sewage, electricity, … yes I can see and respect your freedom, I would even help you make your house if you help me make mine. But what if someone else comes and lives with you, someone you wanted to join you, would it be their house as well or are you going to control them through your individual ownership of the house. What if they’d rather have their own house and ask you to move there, should I care? No, you are free. Ohhnnooo… wait, say you had a kid or two, and then you split, to whose house would those kids be a prisoner of, house 1 or house 2? No I am favoring the kids’ freedom.
The freedom not to eat, not to live under someone’s roof, not have clothes others made, not to have any tools or personal belonging, just lay around and do nothing I believe is honorable and respectable. Free to suicide by apathy? Again I don’t see this as a popular freedom, but I will not say it is impossible.
Yeah, who cares, you can do these things in capitalism, you don’t have to do anything to gain such freedoms, basically because nobody cares to take them away from you.
… I am sure others must have freedoms in their mind I can’t possibly think right now, maybe if we can collect them together into a list, then we will know what it is we are fighting for, this so called freedom, individual freedom … Then we will be more motivated to fight for something more concrete.
